May his memory be eternal! THE EPISTLE St. Paul to the Hebrews. (7:17-17)--Brethren, it is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior. Here tithes are received by mortal men; there, by one of whom it is testified that he lives. One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, for he was still in the loins of his ancestor when Melchizedek met him. Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. For the one of whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, from which no one has ever served at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become a priest, not according to a legal requirement concerning bodily descent but by the power of an indestructible life. For it is witnessed of him, Thou art a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek. الرسالة: عبرانيين ٧-٧٧ ٧: يا إخوة إن ه مما ال خالف فيه إن األصغر يأخذ البركة من األكبر. وههنا انما يأخذ العشور أناس يموتون. فأم ا هناك فالمشهود له بأنه حي فيسوغ أن يقال إن الوي نفس ه الذي يأخذ العشور بإبراهيم ألنه كان في ص لب أبيه حين التقاه ملكيصادق. ولو كان بالكهنوت الالوي كمال )فإن الشعب عليه قد أخذ الناموس( إذ ن أية حاجة كانت بعد أن يقوم كاهن آخر على رتبة ملكيصادق. ولم يقل على رتبة هرون ألنه متى توو ل الكهنوت فال بد من توو ل الناموس أي ا ا. والوال ان الذي يقال هذا فيه إنما كان مشتركاا في وسيط آخر لم يالزم أحد منه المذبح ألنه من الواضح أن ربنا طلع من يهوذا من السبط الذي لم يتكل م عنه موسى بشيء من جهة الكهنوت. ومما يزيد األمر وضو احا انه يقوم على مثال ملكيصادق كاهن آخر غير منصوب حسب ناموس وصية جسدية بل حسب قوة حيتة ال تزول ألنه يشهد ان أنت كاهن الى األبد على رتبة ملكيصادق. THE GOSPEL St. Luke. (19:1-10) At that time, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich. And he sought to see Who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus, for He was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today. So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold. And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.

2 اإلنجيل: لوقا ٢٢-٠٤ ٢: في ذلك الزمان صعد بالطفل يسوع أبواه الى أورشليم ليقد ماه للرب )على حسب ما هو مكتوب في ناموس الرب من ان كل ذكر فاتح رحم ي دعى قدوس ا للرب(. وليقر با ذبيحة على حسب ما قيل في ناموس الرب زوج يمام او فرخي حمام. وكان انسان في اورشليم اسمه سمعان وكان هذا االنسان بار ا تقي ا ينتظر تعزية اسرائيل والروح القدس كان عليه. وكان قد أ وحي اليه من الروح القدس انه ال يرى الموت قبل ان يعاين مسيح الرب. فأقبل بالروح الى الهيكل وعندما دخل بالطفل يسوع أبواه ليصنعا له حسب عادة الناموس اقتبله هو على ذراعيه وبارك هللا وقال: اآلن ت طلق عبدك أيها السيد على حسب قولك بسالم فإن عيني قد أبصرتا خالصك الذي أعددته أمام وجوه جميع الشعوب نور إعالن لألمم ومجد ا لشعبك اسرائيل. وكان يوسف وأم ه يتعجبان مما يقال فيه. وباركهما سمعان وقال لمريم أم ه: ها ان هذا قد ج عل لسقوط وقيام كثيرين في اسرائيل وهدف ا للمخالفة. )وأنت سيجوز سيف في نفسك( لكي ت كش ف أفكار عن قلوب كثيرة. وكانت أيض ا حن ة النبي ة ابنة فنوئيل من سبط أشير. هذه كانت قد تقد مت في األيام كثير ا وكانت قد عاشت مع رجلها سبع سنين بعد بكوريتها ولها أرملة نحو أربع وثمانين سنة ال تفارق الهيكل متعبدة باألصوام والطلبات ليال ونهارا. فهذه قد حضرت في تلك الساعة تشكر الرب وتحد ث عنه كل من كان ينتظر فداء في أورشليم. ولم ا أتم وا كل شيء على حسب ناموس الرب رجعوا الى الجليل الى مدينتهم الناصرة. وكان الصبي ينمو ويتقو ى ممتلئ ا حكمة وكانت نعمة هللا عليه.. Thou didst shatter death by Thy Cross, Thou didst open paradise to the thief; Thou didst turn the sadness of the ointment-bearing women into joy. And didst bid Thine Apostles proclaim a warning, that Thou hast risen O Christ, granting to the world the Great Mercy. I would like to first thank you for your trust in me to lead our ladies auxiliary group, I assure you that I will do the best of my abilities to make it a very successful year. As you all know the Ladies Auxiliary is one of the pillars of our church, I solute all the sisters in Christ who were leaders and chair ladies in the past 75 years of the life of St. Nicholas, and I invite you to all join me this year to continue our journey together. Suhaila Sweis House Blessing Started If you have not recived a phone call for house blessing please call the church office at The Antiochian Archdiocese Department of Youth and Parish Ministry announces that the 2014 Francis Maria Scholarship Application is now available online at For questions on this application: Call Fr Joseph@OrthodoxYouth.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ عيد اللقاء عيد اليوم يمكن اعتباره عيد المسيح في انسانيته في ناسوته المقد س. فإذا كان عيد الظهور اإللهي بشقيه الميالد والمعمودية كشف ا لطبيعة ربنا اإللهية إعالن ا ألزليته فإن عيد اليوم يخبرنا ان السي د كان طفال حق ا وكان معد ا في جسده لآلالم. هذا العيد بحقيقته هو عيد اللقاء كما نسم يه في اللغة اليونانية. لقاء يسوع مع سمعان الشيخ ولقاء يسوع مع هيكل أورشليم. يدخل المسيح إلى الهيكل طفال ولكن في الحقيقة يصير هو هيكل هللا. تذكرون انه سوف يقول: "انق ضوا هذا الهيكل وأنا أ بنيه في ثالثة أيام" )يوحنا ٩١(. ٢: كان يتكل م عن هيكل جسده. لم يعد هناك هيكل من حجر هيكل هللا هو جسد المسيح. هناك يسكن هللا. لذلك لما دخل يسوع الى هيكل سليمان أ بطل هذا الهيكل وزالت شريعة اليهود. في الهيكل استقبل يسوع رجل اسمه سمعان. لم يكن كاهن ا وال يقول عنه الكتاب المقدس انه كاهن. كان رجال مصليا عابد ا. كان من اولئك الرجال الذين يترد دون على الهيكل ويقضون نهارهم فيه. هكذا كانت ايض ا حن ة النبي ة. لما تقب ل سمعان يسوع الطفل على ذراعيه قال: "اآلن أ طلق عبدك ايها السيد حسب قولك بسالم فإن عيني قد أ بصرتا خالصك". هذا الشيخ كان ي رد د كالم ا إلشعياء النبي: "نور ا لألمم وخالص ا إلى أقاصي األرض" )٩١: ٦(. يطلب سمعان الموت بعد ان رأى الطفل اإللهي ظاهر ا بجسده. الخالص الذي كان اليهود ينتظرونه يتحقق بهذا الطفل عندما يموت ويقوم من بين األموات. ليس خالص ا عالمي ا أرضيا للشعب اليهودي من عبودية األجانب انما الخالص الذي أ عد ه هللا أمام كل الشعوب اليهود واألمم نور ا يظهر لألمم الوثنية ومجد ا للشعب اليهودي الذي كان ينتظر المخل ص. سمعان الشيخ فهم ان هذا الطفل جاء للمجد الحقيقي للشعب المؤمن آنذاك الذي كان شعب اليهود وجاء ليضيء األمم جميعها بالخالص كما سيظهر بالفداء وبالقيامة وبمجيء الروح القدس على التالميذ وبانتشار الرسل في العالم ليبش روا باإلنجيل وليؤسسوا كنيسة المسيح على األرض. أم ا لماذا أ دخل يسوع الطفل الى الهيكل فالجواب أن هذا تطبيق للشريعة اليهودية التي تقضي بأن ي عو ض عن االبن البكر بضحية الى هيكل اورشليم فداء له. كل ولد بكر كان يجب ان ي فدى بزوج يمام أو فرخ ي حمام أو بخروف إذا كان ابن عائلة غنية. يذكر اإلنجيلي لوقا هذا: "على حسب ما هو مكتوب في ناموس الرب من أن كل ذكر فاتح رحم ي دعى قدوس ا للرب" اي مكر س ا للرب. ورد هذا في سفر الخروج )٩١: ٩(: "وقال الرب لموسى: كر س لي كل ب كر فاتح رحم من الناس والبهائم في بني إسرائيل". لماذا يجب ان ي فدى الصبي البكر ألن األوالد األبكار في الشعوب القديمة كانوا ي ذب حون ضحايا لآللهة الوثنية. ولكن لما جاءت ديانة اإلله الواحد عند العبرانيين لم يكم لوا تقليد ذبح األبكار واست عيض عن التضحية بهم بتضحية حيوان. وفي هذا الخط دخل الطفل يسوع الى الهيكل ألنه كان خاضع ا للشريعة. جاورجيوس مطران جبيل والبترون وما يليهما )جبل لبنان(

It took place 40 days after the feast of the Lord's birth since the Jewish law required a mother to undergo a rite of purification 40 days following childbirth. In Luke's account of the Presentation, Simeon is recorded as proclaiming Jesus "a light of revelation to the Gentiles." And so at the beginning of the eighth century, Pope Sergius inaugurated a candlelight procession on this day; several years later the blessing and distribution of candles was added to the celebration. Hence this day came to be known as Candlemas. From the sermon below, delivered in the 7th century, it seems the tradition of holding candles on this feast may be earlier than thought and may have originated in the East. Our lighted candles are a sign of the divine splendor of the one who comes to expel the dark shadows of evil and to make the whole universe radiant with the brilliance of his eternal light. Our candles also show how bright our souls should be when we go to meet Christ. The Mother of God, the most pure Virgin, carried the true light in her arms and brought him to those who lay in darkness. We too should carry a light for all to see and reflect the radiance of the true light as we hasten to meet him. The light has come and has shone upon a world enveloped in shadows; the Dayspring from on high has visited us and given light to those who lived in darkness. This, then, is our feast, and we join in procession with lighted candles to reveal the light that has shone upon us and the glory that is yet to come to us through him. So let us hasten all together to meet our God. The true light has come, the light that enlightens every man who is born into this world. Let all of us, my brethren, be enlightened and made radiant by this light. Let all of us share in its splendor, and be so filled with it that no one remains in the darkness. Let us be shining ourselves as we go together to meet and to receive with the aged Simeon the light whose brilliance is eternal. Rejoicing with Symeon, let us sing a hymn of thanksgiving to God, the Father of the light, who sent the true light to dispel the darkness and to give us all a share in his splendor. Through Symeon s eyes we too have seen the salvation of God which he prepared for all the nations and revealed as the glory of the new Israel, which is ourselves. As Simeon was released from the bonds of this life when he had seen Christ, so we too were at once freed from our old state of sinfulness. By faith we, too embraced, Christ, the salvation of God the Father, as he came to us from Bethlehem. Gentiles before, we have now become the people of God. Our eyes have seen God incarnate, and because we have seen him present among us and have mentally received him into our arms, we are called the new Israel. Never shall we forget this presence; every year we keep a feast in his honor. By St. Sophronius of Jerusalem
