Meaning, to create for the first time and then (ع هز و ج ل ( Allah But.(ع هز و ج ل ( Allah resurrect them both are easy for has emphasized that it is easier for Him to resurrect them so that they know that they will be surely resurrected. Like it is correct to ه ي ن و ه ي ن ل ي ن و ل ي ن و م ي ت ( tashdid) read these words (with or without Meaning recreation is just like that. The word.(و م ي ت و ض ي ق و ض ي ق has come in Sura Qaf, which means that the first creation (أ ف ع ي ين ا) did not compel Him not to recreate them again. Allah has created human beings and their creation did not tire Him. In the same verse the word ( (ل غ وب has come, which means He did not get tired. Similarly, in Sura Nooh the meaning of the word ار ا) (أ ط و is, He created you in many phases, like from the sperm, then a clot of congealed blood (zygote), then lump (fetus), then bones and flesh. The Arabs say the word ( ط و ر ه,(ع د ا meaning so and so was raised in stature. In here the meaning of Atwaar ار ا) (أ ط و is status. 1

They (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) you have given us glad tidings, now give us something. On hearing that the color of his face changed then the people of Yemen came to him and he said, O people of Yemen, accept the good tidings, as Bani Tamim has refused them. The Yemenites said, we accept them. Then the Prophet started taking about the beginning of creation and about Allah's Throne. In (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) the meantime, a man came saying, O Imran, your she-camel has run away. (I got up and went (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) away), but l wish I had not left that place (for I missed what Allah's Apostle had said. The people of Bani Tamim came to the who said, O Bani Tamim, accept the good tidings. They said twice, 'you have given us the (وسلم good tidings, now give us something. Then some Yemenites came to him and he said, accept the good tidings, O people of Yemen, for Bani Tamim refused them. They said, we accept it, O Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى )! We have come to ask you about this matter (the start of creations). He said, first of all, there was nothing but Allah, and (then He created His Throne). His throne was over the water, and He wrote everything in the Book (in the Heaven) and created the Heavens and the Earth. Then a man shouted, O Ibn Husain, your she-camel has gone away. So, I went away and could not see the she-camel because of the mirage. By Allah, I wished I had left that she-camel (but not that gathering). Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 3 2

Umar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that one day the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى stood up amongst us for a long period and informed us about the beginning of creation (and talked about everything in detail) till he mentioned how the people of Paradise will enter their places, and the people of Hell will enter their places. Some remembered what he had said, and some forgot it. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى said, Allah said, the son of Adam السالم) (عليه slights Me, and he should not slight Me, and he disbelieves in Me, and he ought not to do so. As for his slighting Me, it is that he says that I have a son; and his disbelief in Me is his statement that I shall not recreate him as I have created (him) before. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, when Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne, My Mercy overpowers My Anger. CHAPTER (2) باب م ا ج اء ف ي س ب ع أ ر ض ي ن What has been said regarding the seven earths. و ق و ل ه للا ت ع ال ى: { ه للا الهذ ي خ ل ق س ب ع س م و ات و م ن األ ر ض م ث ل ه هن ي ت ن هزل األ م ر ب ي ن ه هن ل ت ع ل م وا أ هن ه للا ع ل ى ك ل ش ي ء ق د ير و أ هن ه للا ق د أ ح اط ب ك ل ش ي ء ع ل م ا{ }و ال هسق ف ال م ر ف وع { ال هسم اء. }س م ك ه ا{ ب ن اء ه ا ك ان ف يه ا 3

8 ح ي و ان. ال ح ب ك اس ت و اؤ ه ا و ح س ن ه ا }و أ ذ ن ت } س م ع ت و أ ط اع ت. }و أ ل ق ت } أ خ ر ج ت م ا ف يه ا م ن ال م و ت ى }و ت خ لهت } ع ن ه م. }ط ح اه ا{ د ح اه ا. ال هساه ر ة.و ج ه األ ر ض ك ان ف يه ا ال ح ي و ان ن و م ه م و س ه ر ه م And the Statement of Allah (ت ع ال ى) [It is Allah Who has created seven heavens and of the earth like them. His Command descends between them (heavens and earth), so that you may know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah indeed surrounds all things within His knowledge.] (At-Talaaq - 12). The meaning of the word ( ال هسق ف ال م ر ف وع (و in Sura At-Tur is sky. The meaning of the word (س م ك ه ا) in Sura An-Naazi aat is building. The meaning of the word ( (ال ح ب ك in Sura Adh-Dhariyaat is appropriate, beautiful, or up to the mark. The meaning of the word ( أ ذ ن ت (و in Sura Al-Inshiqaaq is listened, accepted. And the meaning of word ( أ ل ق ت (و is all dead people are taken out of their graves. And the meaning of the word (ط ح اه ا) in Sura Al-Lail is to spread. The meaning of the word ( هساه ر ة (ال in Sura An-Naazi aat is, the world in which all the living beings live and sleep. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 6 ح دهث ن ا ع ل ي ب ن ع ب د ه للا أ خ ب ر ن ا اب ن ع ل يهة ع ن ع ل ي ب ن ال م ب ار ك ح دهث ن ا ي ح ي ى ب ن أ ب ي ك ث ير ع ن م ح همد ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ب ن ال ح ار ث ع ن أ ب ي س ل م ة ب ن ع ب د ال هرح م ن ك ان ت ب ي ن ه و ب ي ن أ ن اس خ ص وم ة ف ي أ ر ض ف د خ ل ع ل ى ع ائ ش ة ف ذ ك ر ل ه ا ذ ل ك ف ق ال ت ي ا أ ب ا س ل م ة اج ت ن ب األ ر ض ف إ هن ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ال " م ن ظ ل م ق يد ش ب ر ط و ق ه م ن س ب ع أ ر ض ين ". Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Al-Harith narrated from Abu Salama bin Abdur Rahman who had a رضئ هللا ( Aisha dispute with some people on a piece of land, and so he went to Ummul Momineen صلى ( Apostle and told her about it. She said, O Abu Salama, avoid the land, for Allah's (تعالی عنہا said, 'any person who takes even a span of land unjustly, his neck shall be encircled (هللا عليه و آله وسلم with it down seven earths.' Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 7 ح دهث ن ا ب ش ر ب ن م ح همد أ خ ب ر ن ا ع ب د ه للا ع ن م وس ى ب ن ع ق ب ة ع ن س ال م ع ن أ ب يه ق ال ق ال النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم " م ن أ خ ذ ش ي ئ ا م ن األ ر ض ب غ ي ر ح ق ه خ س ف ب ه ي و م ال ق ي ام ة إ ل ى س ب ع أ ر ض ي ن ". Saalim's father narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, any person who takes a piece of land unjustly will sink down the seven earths on the Day of Resurrection. 4

Abu Bakra هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said. " the division of time has turned to its original form which was current when Allah created the Heavens and the Earths. The year is of twelve months, out of which four months are sacred. Three are in succession Dhul-Qa' da, Dhul-Hijja and Muharram, and (the fourth is) Rajab of (the tribe of) Mudar which comes between Jumadi-ath-Thaniyah and Sha ban. Sa`id bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail narrated that Arwa sued him before Marwan for a right, which she claimed, he had deprived her of. On that Sa`id said, how should I deprive her of her right? I testify that I heard Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى saying, 'if anyone takes a span of land unjustly, his neck will be encircled with it down seven earths on the Day of Resurrection. CHAPTER (3) ب اب في الن ج وم What has been said regarding the seven earths. و ق ال ق ت اد ة : }و ل ق د ز يهنها ال هسم اء الد ن ي ا ب م ص اب يح { خ ل ق ه ذ ه الن ج وم ل ث ال ث ج ع ل ه ا ز ين ة ل ل هسم اء و ر ج وم ا ل ل هشي اط ين و ع ال م ات ي ه ت د ى ب ه ا ف م ن ت أ هو ل ف يه ا ب غ ي ر ذ ل ك أ خ ط أ و أ ض اع ن ص يب ه و ت ك لهف م ا ال ع ل م ل ه ب ه. و ق ال اب ن ع بهاس : }ه ش يم ا{ م ت غ ي ر ا. و األ ب م ا ي أ ك ل األ ن ع ام األ ن ام ال خ ل ق }ب ر ز خ { ح اج ب. و ق ال م ج اه د : }أ ل ف اف ا{ م ل ت فهة. و ال غ ل ب ال م ل ت فهة }ف ر اش ا{ م ه اد ا ك ق و ل ه : }و ل ك م ف ي األ ر ض م س ت ق ر { }ن ك د ا{ ق ل يال 5

10 Abu Qatada, mentioning Allah's Statement [We have adorned the lowest sky with lamps, and made them missiles against the devils] (Al-Mulk - 5) said, the creation of these stars is for three purposes, and they are, (i) as decoration of the nearest heaven, (ii) as missiles to hit the devils, and (iii) as signs to guide travelers. So, if anybody tries to find a different interpretation, he is mistaken and just wastes his efforts and troubles himself with what is beyond his limited knowledge. Ibn Abbas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said the meaning of the word (ه ش يم ا) in Sura Al-Kahf is which is changed. The meaning of the word ( (األ ب in Sura Abasa is the animal feed. The meaning of the word ( م (األ ن ا in Sura Ar-Rahman is the creature. And the meaning of the word ( ز خ (ب ر is curtain. Mujahid said, the meaning of the word (أ ل ف اف ا) is which is densely covered. The word levelled (م ه اد ا) means (ف ر اش ا) also means the same. The word (ال غ ل ب ( land. And the word ( (م س ت ق ر also means Mihada. The word (ن ك د ا) in Sura Al-A raaf means small quantity. There is no Hadith in this Chapter. CHAPTER (4) باب ص ف ة ال هشم س و ال ق م ر Characteristic of the sun and the moon }ب ح س ب ان } ق ال م ج اه د : ك ح س ب ان ال هرح ى و ق ال غ ي ر ه : ب ح س اب و م ن از ل ال.ي ع د و ان ه ا. ح س ب ان ج م اع ة ح س اب م ث ل ش ه اب و ش ه ب ان. }ض ح اه ا{ ض و ؤ ه ا }أ ن ت د ر ك ال ق م ر } ال ي س ت ر ض و ء أ ح د ه م ا ض و ء اآلخ ر و ال ي ن ب غ ي ل ه م ا ذ ل ك. }س اب ق النهه ار } ي ت ط ال ب ان ح ث يث ان. ن س ل خ ن خ ر ج أ ح د ه م ا م ن اآلخ ر و ن ج ر ي ك هل و اح د م ن ه م ا و اه ي ة و ه ي ه ا ت ش ق ق ه ا. أ ر ج ائ ه ا م ا ل م ي ن ش هق م ن ه ا ف ه ي ع ل ى ح اف ت ي ه ك ق و ل ك ع ل ى أ ر ج اء ال ب ئ ر }أ غ ط ش } و }ج هن{ أ ظ ل م و ق ال ال ح س ن : }ك و ر ت } ت ك هور ح تهى ي ذ ه ب ض و ؤ ه ا }و اللهي ل و م ا و س ق } ج م ع م ن د ابهة }اتهس ق } اس ت و ى. }ب ر وج ا{ م ن از ل ال هشم س و ال ق م ر. ال ح ر ور ب النهه ار م ع ال هشم س. و ق ال اب ن ع بهاس : و ر ؤ ب ة ال ح ر ور ب اللهي ل و ال هسم وم ب النهه ار ي ق ال ي ول ج ي ك و ر. }و ل يج ة { ك ل ش ي ء أ د خ ل ت ه ف ي ش ي ء In the Tafseer of the verse of Sura Ar-Rahman ( هشم س و ال ق م ر ب ح س ب ان (ال [The sun and the moon (travel) with precision.] (Ar-Rahman - 5), Mujahid said, they 6

11 move like the hand mill. And others said, with measured out stages exactly calculated. The word ( (ح س ب ان is plural of ( س اب (ح (calculation / reckoning). Like the word ( (ش ه اب (star), whose plural is (.(ش ه ب ان The word means brightness which has come Sura Ash-Shams. And in Sura (ض ح اه ا) Ya Sin that the sun cannot overtake the moon, means the brightness of the one, cannot affect the other to make it dark. They are incapable of doing that. In the same Sura ( النهه ار (س اب ق has come, meaning the night is following the day, and vice versa. Similarly, in the same Sura the word ( (ن س ل خ has come which means Allah takes out the day from the night. Similarly, in Sura Haaqqa, the word ( اه ي ة,(و has come, which means to break open. In the same Sura the word ج ائ ه ا) (أ ر has come which means the angels will be at the corners of skies till it gets broken down. Like someone says that a person is at the opening of the well. Similarly, in Sura An-Nazi aat, word ( (أ غ ط ش has come and in Sura An-A am the word ( هن (ج has come. Both these words mean darkness. Hasan Basri said, the word ( ر ت (ك و in Sura At-Takwir,(و اللهي ل و م ا و س ق ( of means all will be folded into darkness. And the meaning the meaning of Wama Wasaq is to join them together. In the same Sura the word ( (اتهس ق means which is straightened. And in Sura Al-Furqan, the word (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) means, the stages of sun and the moon. Ibn Abbas (ب ر وج ا) (ال هسم وم ( and means the heat of the night (ال ح ر ور ( word said, in Sura Fatir the means the heat of the day. Also, in Sura Fatir the word ( (ي ول ج means to cover, and in Sura At-Tawba the word ( ل يج ة (و means something which has gone inside or a friend which holds the secrets. Abu Dhar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى asked me at sunset, do صلى هللا ( Apostle you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)? I replied, Allah and His know better. He said, it goes till it prostrates itself underneath the Throne and takes (عليه و آله وسلم the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it و ال هشم س ت ج ر ي ل م س ت ق ر Allah will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of [The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All ل ه ا ذ ل ك ت ق د ير ال ع ز يز ال ع ل يم Knowing.] (Ya Sin - 38). 7

They do not eclipse because of someone's death or life. So, if you see them (eclipse), recite the praises of Allah. Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ narrated that on the day of a solar eclipse, Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى stood up (to offer the eclipse prayer). He recited Takbir, recited a 8

13 long recitation (of the Quran), bowed a long bowing, and then he raised h is head saying. Allah hears him who sends his praises to Him. Then he stayed standing, recited a long recitation again, but shorter than the former, bowed a long bowing, but shorter than the first, performed a long prostration and then performed the second rak`a in the same way as he had done the first. By the time he had finished his prayer with Taslim, the solar eclipse had been over. Then he addressed the people referring to the solar and lunar eclipses saying, these are two signs amongst the Signs of Allah, and they do not eclipse because of anyone's death or life. So, if you see them, hasten for the Prayer. Abu Mas`ud هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, the sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or life of someone, but they are two signs amongst the Signs of Allah. So, if you see them, offer the Prayer (of eclipse). CHAPTER (5) باب م ا ج اء ف ي ق و ل ه : }و ه و الهذ ي أ ر س ل الر ي اح ن ش ر ا ب ي ن ي د ي ر ح م ت ه { What has come as regards to the statement of Allah - [And it is He, Who sends forth the winds as glad tidings (of rain) in advance of His mercy.] (Al-Furqaan 48) }ق اص ف ا{ ت ق ص ف ك هل ش ي ء. }ل و اق ح { م ال ق ح م ل ق ح ة. }إ ع ص ار } ر يح ع اص ف ت ه ب م ن األ ر ض إ ل ى ال هسم اء ك ع م ود ف يه ن ار. }ص ر } ب ر د. }ن ش ر ا{ م ت ف ر ق ة In the Tafseer of the above verse 48, Al-Furqaan, Imam Bukhari has provided these details. The word ف ا) (ق اص has come in Sura Al-Isra, it means powerful wind which destroys everything. The word ( اق ح (ل و has come in Sura Al-Hajj, it means ( (م ال ق ح which is the plural of ( (م ل ق ح ة which means that impregnates. The word ( (إ ع ص ار has come Sura Al-Baqara. It means the ball of fire which stands between earth and sky like a pillar containing fire. The word ( ر (ص is in Sura Aal-i-Imran, it means cold. The meaning of ا) (ن ش ر are winds coming from different directions. 9

Ummul Momineen Aisha said, I do not know (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) knew that state of his. So, the Prophet (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( (am afraid), it may be similar to what happened to some people referred to in the Holy Qur'an in in this verse - [Then, when they saw it (punishment) as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: 'this cloud will bring us rain.' Nay, but it is that (punishment) which you were asking to be hastened! It is a wind, in it, is a painful punishment.] (Al-Ahqaaf - 24). CHAPTER (6) باب ذ ك ر ال م ال ئ ك ة The mention of angels. و ق ال أ ن س ق ال ع ب د ه للا ب ن س ال م ل لنهب ي ص لهى ه للا ع ل ي ه و س لهم إ هن ج ب ر يل - ع ل ي ه ال هسال م - ع د و ال ي ه ود م ن ال م ال ئ ك ة. و ق ال اب ن ع بهاس : }ل ن ح ن ال هصاف ون } ال م ال ئ ك ة Anas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said, Abdullãh bin Salãm هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said to (عليه السالم) 'amongst the angels Jibreel,( (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) the Prophet is the enemy of the Jews. Ibn Abbas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said, the verse [Surely, we (angels) stand in rows (for prayers).] (As-Saaffaat - 165) refers to the angels. 10

Malik bin Sasaa هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, while I was at the House in a state midway between sleep and wakefulness, (an angel recognized me) as the man lying between two men. A golden tray full of wisdom and belief was brought to me and my body was cut open from the throat to the lower part of the abdomen and then my abdomen was washed with Zamzam water and (my heart was) filled with wisdom and belief. Al- Buraq, a white animal, smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me and I set out with Jibreel السالم).(عليه When I reached the nearest heaven. Jibreel السالم) (عليه said to the heaven gatekeeper, 'open the gate.' The gatekeeper asked, 'who is it?' He said, Jibreel. The gatekeeper ).' (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم (( 'Muhammad said, (عليه السالم ( Jibreel asked, 'who is accompanying you?' The gatekeeper said, 'has he been invited?' Jibreel السالم) (عليه said, 'yes.' Then it was said, 'he is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is.' Then I met Adam السالم) (عليه and greeted him, and he said, 'you are welcomed O son and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the second heaven. It was asked, 'who is it?' Jibreel السالم) (عليه said, Jibreel.' It was said, 'who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى )' It was asked, 'has he been sent for?' He said, 'yes.' It was said, (عليه السالم) and Yahya (عليه السالم) 'he is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is! Then I met Isa who said, 'you are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the third heaven. It عليه ( Jibreel said, 'Jibreel.' It was asked, 'who is with you? (عليه السالم) was asked, 'who is it?' Jibreel 11

16 ).' It was asked, 'has he been sent for?' 'yes,' said (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) said, 'Muhammad (السالم Jibreel السالم).(عليه 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!' (The Prophet ﷺ added), there I met Yusuf السالم) (عليه and greeted him, and he replied, 'you are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet!' Then we ascended to the 4th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met Idris السالم) (عليه and greeted him. He said, 'you are welcomed O brother and Prophet.' Then we ascended to the 5th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in previous heavens. there I met and greeted Haroon who said, 'you are welcomed O brother and a Prophet. Then we ascended to the 6th (عليه السالم) heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Musa السالم) (عليه who said, 'you are welcomed O brother and. a Prophet.' When I proceeded on, he started weeping and on being asked why he was weeping, he said, 'O Lord! followers of this youth who was sent after me will enter Paradise in greater number than my followers.' Then we ascended to the seventh heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Ibrahim السالم) (عليه who said, 'you are welcomed o son and a Prophet.' Then I was shown Al-Bait-al-Ma'mur (the Kaba of Heavens). I asked Jibreel السالم) (عليه about it and he said, this is Al Bait-ul-Ma'mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers daily and when they leave, they never return to it (but always a fresh batch comes into it daily).' Then I was shown Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (a tree in the seventh heaven) and I saw its Nabk fruits which resembled the clay jugs of Hajr (a town in Arabia), and its leaves were like the ears of elephants, and four rivers originated at its root, two of them were apparent and two were hidden. I asked Jibreel السالم) (عليه about those rivers and he said, 'the two hidden rivers are in Paradise, and the apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.' Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Musa السالم) (عليه who asked me, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me.' He said, 'I know the people better than you, because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So, return to your Lord and request Him (to reduce the number of prayers.' I returned and requested Allah (for reduction) and He made it forty. I returned and met Musa ( السالم (عليه and had a similar discussion, and then returned again to Allah for reduction and He made it thirty, then twenty, then ten, and then I came to Musa السالم) (عليه who repeated the same advice. Ultimately Allah reduced it to five. When I came to Musa السالم) (عليه again, he said, 'what have you done?' I said, 'Allah has made it five only.' He repeated the same advice, but I said that I surrendered. Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى was addressed by Allah, I have decreed My Obligation and have reduced the burden on My slaves, and I shall reward a single good deed as if it were ten good deeds. 17 Abdullah bin Mus'ud هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى,( the true and truly inspired said, that a human being is put together in the womb of the mother in forty days, and then he becomes a clot of thick blood for a similar period, and then a piece of flesh for a similar period. Then Allah sends an angel who is ordered to write four things. He is ordered to write down his deeds, his livelihood, his death, and whether he will be blessed or wretched. Then the soul is breathed into him. So, a man amongst you may do good deeds till there is only a cubit between him and Paradise and then what has been written for him decides his behavior and he starts doing (evil) deeds characteristic of the people of the (Hell) Fire. And similarly, a man amongst you may do (evil) deeds till there is only a cubit between him and the (Hell) Fire, and then what has been written for him decides his behavior, and he starts doing deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, if Allah loves a person, He calls Jibreel السالم) (عليه saying, 'Allah loves so and-so; O Jibreel السالم) (عليه Love him.' Jibreel السالم) (عليه would love him and make an announcement amongst the inhabitants of the Heaven. 'Allah loves so-and-so, therefore you should love him too,' and so all the inhabitants of the Heaven would love him, and then he is granted the pleasure of the people on the earth. (When he saw Umar رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ was uncomfortable), Hassaan هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said, I used to recite poetry in this very Mosque in the presence of the one (Prophet (ﷺ who was better than you. Then, Hassaan هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ turned towards Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ and said, I ask you by Allah, did you hear Allah's Apostle رضئ هللا تعالی saying (after hearing poetry), O Allah, support him (Hassaan (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم ( yes. Abu Huraira said,.(عليه السالم with the Roohul Qudus (Jibreel (عنہ Explanation I have written a book on Music and Recitation in Islam. It is an important giving details about all aspects of this issue. It is a recommended book for all Muslims of the world. He replied, in these ), (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (i) the angel sometimes comes to me with a voice which resembles the sound of a ringing bell, and when this state abandons me, I remember what the angel has said, and this type of divine revelation is the hardest on me; and (ii) sometimes the angel comes to me in the shape of a man and talks to me, and I understand and remember what he says. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that he heard the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى saying, who ever spends a couple (of objects) in Allah's cause, will be called by the Gatekeepers of Paradise who will say, O so-and-so, come on!" Abu Bakr هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ said, such a person will never perish or be miserable.' The Prophet ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى said, I hope you will be among such persons. 20 صلى هللا ( Prophet said, the (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( Aisha Abu Salama narrated that Ummul Momineen and he sends his (greetings) salutations (عليه السالم) said to her, O Aisha, this is Jibreel (عليه و آله وسلم to you. Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ said, Salutations to him, and Allah's Mercy and Blessings be on him, and addressing the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى she said, you see what I do not see. Then this verse was revealed [And (the,(السالم angels say) we only descend by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs whatever is before us, and whatever is behind us, and everything in between. And your Lord is never forgetful.] (Maryam - 64) Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 30 ح دهث ن ا إ س م اع يل ق ال ح دهث ن ي س ل ي م ان ع ن ي ون س ع ن اب ن ش ه اب ع ن ع ب ي د ه للا ب ن ع ب د ه للا ب ن ع ت ب ة ب ن م س ع ود ع ن اب ن ع بهاس رضى هللا عنهما أ هن ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ا ل " أ ق ر أ ن ي ج ب ر يل ع ل ى ح ر ف ف ل م أ ز ل أ س ت ز يد ه ح تهى ان ت ه ى إ ل ى س ب ع ة أ ح ر ف ". عليه ( Jibreel said, (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) narrated that Allah's Apostle (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Ibn Abbas read the Qur'an to me in one way (dialect) and I continued asking him to read it in different (السالم ways till he read it in seven different ways. Ibn Abbas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى was the most generous of all the people, and he used to be more generous in the month of Ramadan when Jibreel 16

21 used to meet him every night in Ramadan to recite (عليه السالم) used to meet him. Jibreel (عليه السالم) the Holy Qur'an together. Ibn Shihab narrated that once Umar bin Abdul Aziz delayed the Asr prayer a little. Urwa said to (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) descended and led the prayer in front of the Prophet (عليه السالم) him, Jibreel " On that Umar said, O `Urwa, be sure of what you say. Urwa said, I heard Bashir bin Abi صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Apostle who heard Allah's (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Masud narrating from Ibn Masud again, descended and led me in prayer; and then prayed with him (عليه السالم) saying, 'Jibreel (وسلم and then prayed with him again, and then prayed with him again, and then prayed with him again, counting with his fingers five prayers. The Prophet ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى asked. even if he has committed illegal sexual intercourse or theft? He replied, even then. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى said, angels keep on descending and ascending to the Heaven in turn, some at night and some by daytime, and all of 17

22 them assemble together at the time of the Fajr and Asr prayers. Then those who have stayed with you over-night, ascend unto Allah Who asks them, and He knows the answer better than they, how have you left My servants? They reply, we left them praying as we found them praying. If anyone of you says Amin (during the Prayer at the end of the recitation of Surat-al-Fatiha), and the angels in Heaven say the same, and the two sayings coincide, all his past sins will be forgiven. (a small (ن م ر ق ة ( Namruqa a pillow decorated with pictures which looked like a (و آله وسلم He came and stood among the people with excitement apparent on his face. I said, O Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى ), what is wrong? He said, what is this pillow? I said, I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it. He said, do not you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes, a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)? Busr bin Sa`id narrated that Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani narrated to him something in the presence of Sa`id bin 'Ubaidullah Al-Khaulani who was brought up in the house of Ummul Momineen صلى هللا ( Prophet Zaid narrated to them that Abu Talha said that the.(رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( Maimuna said, the angels do not enter a house wherein there is a picture. Busr said, later on (عليه و آله وسلم Zaid bin Khalid fell ill and we called on him. To our surprise we saw a curtain decorated with pictures in his house. I said to Ubaidullah Al-Khaulani, didn't he (Zaid) tell us about the (prohibition of) pictures? He said, but he excepted the embroidery on garments. Didn't you hear him? I said, no. He said, yes, he did. (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) promised the Prophet (عليه السالم) Saalim's father narrated that once Jibreel (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) that he would visit him, but he did not come, and later he told the Prophet ), we, angels, do not enter a house which contains a picture or a dog. 24 [O Allah, Our Lord, All the praises are for You]. If the saying of anyone of you coincides ل ك ال ح م د with the saying of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, as long as anyone of you is waiting for the prayer, he is considered to be praying actually, and the angels say, 'O Allah, Be Merciful to him and forgive him', (and go on saying so) unless he leaves his place of praying or passes wind (breaks his ablution). Let your Lord put an end to us.' But he will say, 'Nay! You are going to live (here) forever.'] and و ن اد و ا ي ا م ال ك ل ي ق ض ع ل ي ن ا ر ب ك ق ال إ نهك م م اك ث ون it recited (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Sufyan said that Abdullah [They will cry 'O Maalik (the keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord put an end to us.' But he will say, 'Nay! You are going to live (here) forever.'] (Az-Zukhruf - 77). The ), (وسلم 20

25 replied, your tribes have troubled me a lot, and the worse trouble was the trouble (هللا عليه و آله وسلم on the day of Aqaba when I presented myself to Ibn Abd-Yalail bin `Abd-Kulal and he did not respond to my demand. So, I departed, overwhelmed with excessive sorrow, and proceeded on, and could not relax till I found myself at Qarnath-Tha-alib where I lifted my head towards the sky to see a cloud shading me unexpectedly. I looked up and saw Jibreel السالم) (عليه in it. He called me saying, 'Allah has heard your people's saying to you, and what they have replied back to you, Allah has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you so that you may order him to do whatever you wish to these people.' The Angel of the Mountains called and greeted me, and then said, O Muhammad mountains) order what you wish. If you like, I will let Al-Akh-Shabain (two (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) fall on them. The Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, no but I hope that Allah will let them beget children who will worship Allah alone, and will worship none besides Him. Explanation Brief History about this Hadith. After the death of Ummul Momineen Khadija ( هللا تعالی عنہا,(رضئ there was no one to look after the children of the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى.( The Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى had to marry Ummul Momineen Sauda ( هللا تعالی عنہا,(رضئ a widow from the tribe of Amir Ibn Luaiy. She took care of the Prophet s هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى children affectionately. After the demise of Hadhrat Abu Talib هللا تعالی عنہ),(رضئ Abu Lahb became the head of the صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Mohammad family and quickly declared Prophet (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم ( Prophet s impunity. with (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) as an outlaw. Now anyone could hurt the Prophet (وسلم The Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى needed to reach out and seek support beyond the city of Makka. He wanted to spread the message to the people of the neighboring town Taif, in the hope that they would believe and accept the message of Islam. He trekked from Makkah to Taif to invite the people of Taif. In Taif, he met with the chiefs of the major tribe Thaqeef. He told them about Islam, but they rejected his message and ill-treated him. Not only did they refuse to listen to his message, but they unleashed the goons and children of their tribe to throw stones at him and drive him out of their town. With people jeering at him as his ankles bled, he ran out, finding shelter in an empty orchard. Alone, bleeding and rejected, he هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى rested on a rock and prayed to Allah as follows. اللهم إليك أشكو ضعف قوتي وقلة حيلتي وهواني على الناس يا أرحم الراحمين أنت رب المستضعفين وأنت ربى إلى من تكلني إلى بعيد يتجهمني أو إلى عدو ملكته أمري إن لم يكن بك غضب علي فال أبالي غير أن عافيتك هي أوسع لي أعوذ بنور وجهك الذي أشرقت له الظلمات وصلح عليه أمر الدنيا واآلخرة أن يحل علي غضبك أو أن ينزل بي سخطك.لك العتبى حتى ترضى وال حول وال قوة إال بك To You, my Lord, I complain of my weakness, lack of support and the humiliation I am made to receive. Most Compassionate and Merciful, You, are the Lord of the weak, and You are my Lord. 21

26 To whom do You leave me? To a distant person who receives me with hostility or to an enemy You have given power over me? As long as you are not displeased with me, I do not care what I face. I would, however, be much happier with Your mercy. I seek refuge in the light of Your face by which all darkness is dispelled and both this life and the life to come are put in their right course against incurring your wrath or being the subject of your anger. To You I submit, until I earn Your favor. Everything is powerless without your support. At that moment, Angel Jibreel السالم) (عليه came to the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى and told him that if he wished, he would collapse the two mountains surrounding the people of Taif and crush them to death. The Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى was not overcome with rage or dismay. Instead of seeking revenge against the people of Taif, he said to Angel Jibreel السالم) (عليه I rather hope ع هز ( Allah will raise from among their descendants, people who will worship (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah that Him. and will not ascribe partners to (و ج هل The Prophet s هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى return to Makka was still more difficult. However, a relative of the family of Ummul Momineen Khadija ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ escorted him back to Makka and supported him openly. Abu Is-haq-Ash-Shaibani narrated that he asked Zir bin Hubaish regarding the Statement of Allah - [Then (both) closed up like two bows, and indeed more closely. And He revealed to His servant (Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ what He wanted to reveal.] (An-Najm: 9-10). On that, Zir said, Ibn عليه ( Jibreel had seen (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) informed us that the Prophet (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Mas`ud wings. having 600 (السالم Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 44 ح دهث ن ا ح ف ص ب ن ع م ر ح دهث ن ا ش ع ب ة ع ن األ ع م ش ع ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن ع ل ق م ة ع ن ع ب د ه للا رضى هللا عنه }ل ق د ر أ ى م ن آي ات ر ب ه ال ك ب ر ى{ ق ال ر أ ى ر ف ر ف ا أ خ ض ر س ده أ ف ق ال هسم ا ء. 27 Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ said, whoever claimed that (Prophet) Muhammad (عليه السالم) saw his Lord, is committing a great fault, for he only saw Jibreel (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) in his genuine shape in which he was created covering the whole horizon. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 46 ح دهث ن ي م ح همد ب ن ي وس ف ح دهث ن ا أ ب و أ س ام ة ح دهث ن ا ز ك ر يهاء ب ن أ ب ي ز ائ د ة ع ن اب ن األ ش و ع ع ن ال هشع ب ي ع ن م س ر وق ق ال ق ل ت ل ع ائ ش ة رضى هللا عنها ف أ ي ن ق و ل ه }ث هم د ن ا ف ت د لهى * ف ك ان ق اب ق و س ي ن أ و أ د ن ى{ ق ال ت ذ اك ج ب ر يل ك ان ي أ ت يه ف ي ص ور ة ال هرج ل و إ نهه أ ت اه ه ذ ه ال م هرة ف ي ص ور ت ه الهت ي ه ي ص ور ت ه ف س ده األ ف ق. Masruq narrated that he asked Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا,(رضئ what about this state of Allah - [Then he (the Prophet (ﷺ approached closer and hung (by Allah). Then (both) closed (عليه السالم) up like two bows, and indeed more closely.] (An-Najr: 8-9) She replied, it was Jibreel who used to come to the Prophet ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى in the shape of a man, but on that occasion, he came in his actual and real form and (he was so huge) that he covered the whole horizon. Explanation The verses 1-18 of Sura An-Najm are related to the night of ascension (M'eraj) of Prophet.( (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم )) Mohammad صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Mohammad There are differences of opinions among scholars whether Prophet Me'raj. during (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah saw (وسلم Verse # 12 above - م ا ك ذ ب ٱلف ؤ اد م ا ر أ ى [ Will you people wrangle over what he beheld (saw)], indicates that there were some differences of opinion even among Sahabah as to what was witnessed by Prophet Mohammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى on the night of ascension? Some thought.(عليه السالم ( Jibril it was However, the statement of Allah ( هز و ج هل (ع in verse 10 above - ف أ و ح ى إ ل ى ع ب د ه ۦ م ا أ و ح ى [ He revealed to His Servant], clearly shows that the conversation is between Allah ( هز و ج هل (ع and Prophet Mohammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى ;( meaning Allah ( هز و ج هل (ع appeared to Prophet Muhammad (عليه السالم) in order to grant him revelation. The text does not say that Jibril (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) appeared to Prophet Muhammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى ). If we take Jibril ( السالم,(عليه in place of Allah ( هز و ج هل (ع in the above verse, it will mean that Prophet Mohammad ( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى is the Servant of Jibril السالم) (عليه (Nauzubillahi), which is not correct. It is in Hadith - Ibn Abbas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ reported that Prophet Mohammad Muslim) on the 'Night of Ascension (Sahih (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah saw (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) 23

28 We have briefly discussed the differences of opinions of Sahaba and Imams. Ummul Momineen Aisha s هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ understanding in this issue is abundantly clear from the following Hadith. It is in Hadith - Narrated by Masruq هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ - I said to Ummul Momineen صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Muhammad 'O" Mother! Did Prophet,(رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( Aisha said, what you have said makes my (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( Aisha see his Lord? (وسلم hair stand on end! Know that if somebody tells you one of the following, he is a liar. Whoever tells you that Mohammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى saw his Lord, is a liar. هال ت د ر ڪه ٱأل ب ص ر - verse recited this (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہا ( Aisha Then Ummul Momineen Him. [ Peoples' eyes (be it physical eyes or heart eyes) cannot see و ه و ي د ر ك ٱأل ب ص ر و م ا ك ان ل ب ش ر أ ن ي ك ل م ه " - verse He sees their eyes (them).] (Al-An'aam - 103). ; and this (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah [It is not fitting for a human being that ٱ ه لل إ هال و ح ي ا أ و م ن و ر اى ح ج ا ب should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil.] (Ash-Shura - 51). (Part of the Hadith) (Bukhari, Muslim) Carefully read the above Hadith. Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ is explaining the meanings of the verses of Quran and on that basis she narrating her observations in related Ahadith. What Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ is referring is Allah's ( هز و ج هل (ع Absolute Existence which cannot be seen by anyone and therefore she is quoting the verses of Quran that negate sighting of Allah's ( هز و ج هل (ع absolute existence. Nothing can encompass Zaat-e-Elahi. Look at the following Ahadith that confirm sighting of Allah's manifestations in (i) Tajalli-e-Zaati (Light of His Knowledge), and (ii) Tajalli-e- Sifaati (His attributes Refulgence) صلى ( Mohammad narrated that Prophet (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) It is in Hadith - Ibn Abbas said - I saw my Lord, the Exalted and Glorious in the most beautiful (هللا عليه و آله وسلم (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah said, on this I submitted, does not (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) form. He (the Prophet - هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى ) said "He is light,ن ور I saw Him.] (Muslim, Book # 1, Hadith # 341). What is light of Unity? It is His knowledge. It is important to note that Allah's light ( ن ور ) is within his Zaat. It is not that Zaat-e-Elahi is within His light ( ن ور ). We cannot confine Zaat-e-Elahi into His own light, ( ن ور ) or into a form, shape, or body; exclusively, divine or creature like. If you do that, it will be shirk. 24

(An-Najm 18). صلى هللا عليه و ( Mohammad Bayhaqi narrated a Hadith with a sound chain - Prophet curly-haired, said 'I saw my Lord ( in al-asma' wa al-sifat) in the form of a (آله وسلم beardless young man wearing a green robe'. Thus, Sahaba and Imams rightly said that Zaat-e-Elahi (the absolute existence of Allah) cannot be encompassed by human beings from the physical or spiritual eyes. However Sighting of Allah's Tajalli-e-Asma (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah's ) formless light. And sighting of ن ور ( is Tajalli-e-Zaati (ع هز و ج هل ( صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Mohammad wo Sifaat can be witnessed in the shape of His creatures. Prophet ), and Tajalli-e-Asma was Sifaat - in ن ور ( Tajalli-e-Zaati in both; (ع هز و ج هل ( Allah witnessed (وسلم the shape of His creatures. I was so frightened by him that I fell on the ground and came to my family and said (to them), 'cover me! (with a blanket), cover me!' Then Allah sent the Revelation [O' you (Prophet covered up (in your cloak.)! Get up and warn (all) Proclaim the greatness of your Lord. Cleanse (ﷺ and keep your clothes purified. I also saw Malik, the gate-keeper of the (Hell) Fire and Ad-Dajjal amongst the signs which Allah showed me. Whenever they are given a thing and then another thing, they will say, 'we have already been provided with this', for they are given things similar in shape but different in taste. The bunches of fruits will be near to them and they will pluck fruits as they like. Imam Bukhari has also described certain words / statements which have been described in the Quran about the exceptional treatment of the dwellers of the Paradise. 'They said to Umar bin Al-Khattab هللا تعالی عنہ) '.(رضئ Then I remembered Umar's Ghaira ت ه ) (غ ي ر (staying away from women), and so I quickly went away from that palace. When Umar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ heard this from the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) (صلى ), he wept and said, do you think it is likely that I feel )? (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) narrated that the Prophet (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Abdullah bin Qais Al-Ash`ari said, a tent (in Paradise) is like a hollow pearl which is thirty miles in height and on every corner of the tent, the believer will have a family that cannot be seen by the others. Abu Imran narrated in another Hadith that the tent is sixty miles in height. 28

They will not spit or blow their noses or relieve nature. Their utensils will be of gold and their combs of gold and silver; in their centers the aloe wood will be used, and their sweat will smell like musk. Everyone of them will have two wives; the marrow of the bones of the wives' legs will be seen through the flesh out of excessive beauty. They (the people of Paradise) will neither have differences nor hatred amongst themselves; their hearts will be as if one heart and they will be glorifying Allah in the morning and in the evening. Their hearts will be as if the heart of a single man, for they will have no enmity amongst themselves, and everyone of them shall have two wives, each of whom will be so beautiful, pure, and transparent that the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the flesh. They will be glorifying Allah in the morning and evening, and will 29

Their utensils will be of gold and silver, and their combs will be of gold, and the fuel used in their centers will be the aloeswood, and their sweat will smell like musk. When the people were fascinated (هللا عليه و آله وسلم by the cloak. he said, by Allah in Whose Hands the life of Muhammad is, the handkerchiefs of Sa`d bin Mu`adh هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ in Paradise are better than this. Al-Bara bin Azib ( هللا تعالی عنہ (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى was given صلى ( Apostle a silken garment, and its beauty and delicacy astonished the people. On that, Allah's in Paradise (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) said, no doubt, the handkerchiefs of Sa`d bin Mu`adh (هللا عليه و آله وسلم are better than this. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 61 30

Sahl bin Sa`d Al-Saidi هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, a place in Paradise equal to the size of a lash is better than the whole world and whatever is in it. Anas bin Malik هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, there is a tree in Paradise (which is so big and huge that) if a rider travels in its shade for one hundred years, he would not be able to cross it. And if you wish, you can recite [And in long extended shades.] (Al-Waqiah - 30). And a place in Paradise equal to an arrow bow of one of you, is better than (the whole earth) on which the sun rises and sets. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, the first batch (of people) who will enter Paradise will be (glittering) like the full moon, and the batch next to them will be (glittering) like the most brilliant star in the sky. Their hearts will be as if the heart of a single man, for they will have neither enmity nor jealousy amongst themselves; everyone will have two wives from the houris, (who will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that) the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the bones and the flesh. 31

Al-Bara bin Azib هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet, after the death of his son Ibrahim Paradise. said, there is a wet-nurse for him in,(رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 66 ح دهث ن ا ع ب د ال ع ز يز ب ن ع ب د ه للا ق ال ح دهث ن ي م ال ك ب ن أ ن س ع ن ص ف و ان ب ن س ل ي م ع ن ع ط اء ب ن ي س ار ع ن أ ب ي س ع يد ال خ د ر ي رضى هللا عنه ع ن النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ال " إ هن أ ه ل ال ج نهة ي ت ر اء ي ون أ هل ال غ ر ف م ن ف و ق ه م ك م ا ي ت ر اء ي ون ال ك و ك ب الد ر هي ال غ اب ر ف ي األ ف ق م ن ال م ش ر ق أ و ال م غ ر ب ل ت ف اض ل م ا ب ي ن ه م ". ق ال وا ي ا ر س ول ه للا ت ل ك م ن از ل األ ن ب ي اء ال ي ب ل غ ه ا غ ي ر ه م ق ال " ب ل ى و الهذ ي ن ف س ي ب ي د ه ر ج ال آم ن وا ب ا ه لل و ص دهق وا ال م ر س ل ي ن ". Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, the people of Paradise will look at the dwellers of the lofty mansions in the same way as one looks at a brilliant star far away in the East or in the West on the horizon; all that is because of their صلى هللا (( Apostle superiority over one another (in rewards). On that the people said, O Allah's ), are these lofty mansions for the prophets which nobody else can reach? The Prophet (عليه و آله وسلم replied, no! by Allah in whose Hands my life is, these are for the men who (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) believed in Allah and also believed in the Apostles. CHAPTER (9) ب اب ص ف ة أ ب و اب ال ج نهة The characteristics of the gates of Paradise. و ق ال النهب ي ص لهى ه للا ع ل ي ه و س لهم :»م ن أ ن ف ق ز و ج ي ن د ع ي م ن ب اب ال ج نهة «. ف يه ع ب اد ة ع ن النهب ي ص لهى ه للا ع ل ي ه و س لهم The Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said anyone who spent things in the way of Allah, he will be called from that door of the (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Paradise. This is narrated by Ibada bin Samit.( (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) from the Prophet 32

Sahl bin Sa`d هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, Paradise has eight gates, and one of them is called Ar-Raiyan through which none will enter but those who observe fasting. 38 Abu Dhar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that while the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى was on a journey, he said (regarding the performance of the Zuhr prayer), wait till it (the weather) gets cooler. He said the same again till the shade of the hillocks extended. Then he said, delay the (Zuhr) Prayer till it gets cooler, for the severity of heat is from the increase in heat of Hell (fire). So, He allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in summer, and this is the reason for the severe heat and the bitter cold you find (in weather). Abu Jamra Ad-Dabi narrated that he used to sit with Ibn Abbas in Makka. Once I had a fever and (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) he said (to me), cool your fever with Zamzam water, for Allah's Apostle said, 'the fever is from the heat of the (Hell) Fire, so cool it with water. Ummul Momineen Aisha ( هللا تعالی عنہا (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, fever is from the heat of the (Hell) Fire, so cool it with water. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 74 ح دهث ن ا م س دهد ع ن ي ح ي ى ع ن ع ب ي د ه للا ق ال ح دهث ن ي ن اف ع ع ن اب ن ع م ر رضى هللا عنهما ع ن النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ا ل " ال ح همى م ن ف ي ح ج ه نهم ف أ ب ر د وه ا ب ال م ا ء ". Ibn `Umar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, fever is from the heat of the (Hell) Fire; so abate fever with water. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 75 ح دهث ن ا إ س م اع يل ب ن أ ب ي أ و ي س ق ال ح دهث ن ي م ال ك ع ن أ ب ي الز ن اد ع ن األ ع ر ج ع ن أ ب ي ه ر ي ر ة رضى هللا عنه أ هن ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ال " ن ار ك م ج ز ء م ن س ب ع ين ج ز ء ا م ن ن ار ج ه نه م ". ق يل ي ا ر س ول ه للا إ ن ك ان ت ل ك اف ي ة. ق ال " ف ض ل ت ع ل ي ه هن ب ت س ع ة و س ت ين ج ز ء ا ك ل ه هن م ث ل ح ر ه ا ". Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, your صلى هللا (( Apostle (ordinary) fire is one of 70 parts of the (Hell) Fire. Someone asked, O Allah's ), this (ordinary) fire would have been sufficient (to torture the unbelievers). Allah's (عليه و آله وسلم Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, the (Hell) Fire has 69 parts more than the ordinary (worldly) fire, each part is as hot as this (worldly) fire. Let your و ن اد و ا ي ا م ال ك ل ي ق ض ع ل ي ن ا ر ب ك ق ال إ نهك م م اك ث ون Lord put an end to us.' But he will say, 'Nay! You are going to live (here) forever.'] (Az-Zukhruf - 77). He said, you see that I don't talk to him. Really, I talk to (advise) him secretly (عنہ without opening a gate (of affliction), for neither do I want to be the first to open it (rebellion), nor will I say to a man who is my ruler that he is the best of all the people after I have heard something from Allah s Apostle (( هللا عليه و آله وسلم (صلى ). They said, what have you heard him saying? He said, I have heard him saying, a man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown in the (Hell) Fire, so that his intestines will come out, and he will go around like a donkey goes around a millstone. The people of (Hell) Fire will gather around him and say, O so-and-so! What is wrong with you? Didn't you use to order us to do good deeds and forbid us to do bad deeds? He will reply, yes, I used to order you to do good deeds, but I did not do them myself, and I used to forbid you to do bad deeds, yet I used to do them myself. 41 The words used in the Quran about Satan are described by Imam Bukhari to describe his characteristics. Mujahid said there is a word ( (ي ق ذ ف ون in Sura As- Saaffaat which means who has been thrown out. In the same Sura there is a word ا) (د ح ور which means who has been made outcast. In the same verse رضئ هللا تعالی ( Abbas which means permanently. Ibn (و اص ب ( word there is a in Sura Al-A raaf which means who has (م د ح ور ا) said there is a word (عنہ made outcast and condemned. There is a word يد ا) (م ر in Sura An-Nisa which means troublemaker. There is a word ( اس ت ف ز ز (و in Sura Al-Isra which means degraded. In the same verse there is a word ( (ب خ ي ل ك which means (Satan s army of) horse riders and ( هرج ل (ال means (Satan s) soldiers who fight on foot. There is a word ( ين (ق ر in Sura As-Saaffaat which means Satan. One day he invoked (Allah) for a long period and then said, I feel that Allah has inspired me as how to cure myself. Two persons came to me (in my dream) and sat, one by my head and the other by my feet. One of them asked the other, what is the ailment of this man? The other replied, 'he has been bewitched The first asked, 'who has bewitched him?' The other replied, 'Lubaid bin Al-A'sam.' The first one asked, 'what material has he used?' The other replied, 'a comb, the hair gathered on it, and the outer skin of the pollen of the male date-palm.' The first asked, صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Prophet 'where is that?' The other replied, 'it is in the well of Dharwan.' So, the went out towards the well and then returned and said to me on his return, " its date-palms (وسلم (the date-palms near the well) are like the heads of the devils. I asked, did you take out those things with which the magic was worked? He said, no, for I have been cured by Allah and I am afraid that this action may spread evil amongst the people. Later on the well was filled up with earth. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, during your sleep, Satan knots three knots at the back of the head of each of you, and he breathes the following words at each knot, 'the night is, long, so keep on sleeping,' If that person wakes up and celebrates the praises of Allah, then one knot is undone, and when he performs ablution the second knot is undone, and when he prays, all the knots are undone, and he gets up in the morning lively and in good spirits, otherwise he gets up in low spirits and lethargic. (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) narrated that it was mentioned before the Prophet (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Abdullah صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Prophet that there was a man who slept the night till morning (after sunrise). The urinated. said, he is a man in whose ears (or ear) Satan had (وسلم Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 81 ح دهث ن ا م وس ى ب ن إ س م اع يل ح دهث ن ا ه همام ع ن م ن ص ور ع ن س ال م ب ن أ ب ي ال ج ع د ع ن ك ر ي ب ع ن اب ن ع بهاس رضى هللا عنهما ع ن النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم ق ال " أ م ا إ هن أ ح د ك م إ ذ ا أ ت ى أ ه ل ه و ق ال ب س م ه للا اللهه هم ج ن ب ن ا ال هشي ط ان و ج ن ب ال هشي ط ان م ا ر ز ق ت ن ا. ف ر ز ق ا و ل د ا ل م ي ض ر ه ال هشي ط ان ". Ibn Abbas هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, if anyone of you, when having sexual relation with his wife, say, 'in the name of Allah. O Allah, protect us from Satan and prevent Satan from approaching our offspring you are going to give us,' and if he begets a child (as a result of that relation) Satan will not harm it. " و ال ت ح يهن وا ب ص ال ت ك م ط ل وع ال هشم س و ال غ ر وب ه ا ف إ نهه ا ت ط ل ع ب ي ن ق ر ن ى ش ي ط ان ". أ و ال هشي ط ان. ال أ د ر ي أ هى ذ ل ك ق ال ه ش ا م Ibn Umar هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, when the (upper) edge of the sun appears (in the morning), don't perform a prayer till the sun appears in full, 38

43 and when the lower edge of the sun sets, don't perform a prayer till it sets completely. And you should not seek to pray at sunrise or sunset for the sun rises between two sides of the head of the devil (or Satan). Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 83 ح دهث ن ا أ ب و م ع م ر ح دهث ن ا ع ب د ال و ار ث ح دهث ن ا ي ون س ع ن ح م ي د ب ن ه ال ل ع ن أ ب ي ص ال ح ع ن أ ب ي س ع يد ق ال ق ال النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم " إ ذ ا م هر ب ي ن ي د ى أ ح د ك م ش ى ء و ه و ي ص ل ي ف ل ي م ن ع ه ف إ ن أ ب ى ف ل ي م ن ع ه ف إ ن أ ب ى ف ل ي ق ات ل ه ف إ نهم ا ه و ش ي ط ان ". Abu Said Al-Khudri هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, while you are praying, if somebody intends to pass in front of you, prevent him; and should he insist, prevent him again; and if he insists again, fight with him, because such a person is (like) a devil. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 84 و ق ال ع ث م ان ب ن ال ه ي ث م ح دهث ن ا ع و ف ع ن م ح همد ب ن س ير ين ع ن أ ب ي ه ر ي ر ة رضى هللا عنه ق ال و هكل ن ي ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ب ح ف ظ ز ك اة ر م ض ان ف أ ت ان ي آت ف ج ع ل ي ح ث و م ن ال هطع ام ف أ خ ذ ت ه ف ق ل ت أل ر ف ع نهك إ ل ى ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم. ف ذ ك ر ال ح د يث ف ق ال إ ذ ا أ و ي ت إ ل ى ف ر اش ك ف اق ر أ آي ة ال ك ر س ي ل ن ي ز ال ع ل ي ك م ن ه للا ح اف ظ و ال ي ق ر ب ك ش ي ط ان ح تهى ت ص ب ح. ف ق ال النهب ي صلى هللا عليه وسلم " ص د ق ك و ه و ك ذ وب ذ اك ش ي ط ا ن ". صلى هللا ( Apostle said, Allah's (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Muhammad bin Sirin narrated that Abu Huraira put me in charge of the Zakat of Ramadan (Zakat-ul-Fitr). Someone came to me and (عليه و آله وسلم started scooping some of the foodstuff of (Zakat) with both hands. I caught him and told him that (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) ). Then Abu Huraira (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم)) I would take him to Allah's Apostle told the whole narration and added he (the thief) said, 'whenever you go to your bed, recite the ه للا ال إ ل ه إ هال ه و ال ح ي ال ق ي وم ال ت أ خ ذ ه س ن ة و ال ن و م ل ه م ا ف ي ال هس م او ات و م ا ف ي األ ر ض م ن ذ ا الهذ ي - Al-Kursi verse of ي ش ف ع ع ن د ه إ هال ب إ ذ ن ه ي ع ل م م ا ب ي ن أ ي د يه م و م ا خ ل ف ه م و ال ي ح يط ون ب ش ي ء م ن ع ل م ه إ هال ب م ا ش اء و س ع ك ر س ي ه ال هسم او ات و األ ر ض self-subsisting, [ Allah, There is no god but He, the living, eternal, و ال ي ئ ود ه ح ف ظ ه م ا و ه و ال ع ل ي ال ع ظ ي م ever sustaining. Neither does slumber come near Him nor sleep. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. And who can intercede with Him except by His command? Known to Him is all that is present before men and what is hidden (from them), and not even a little of His knowledge can they grasp except what He wills. His Throne (of Sovereignty) encompasses heavens and the earth; and He does not tire protecting them. He alone is all High and Supreme.] (Al-Baqara -255). A guardian from Allah will be guarding you, and Satan will not approach you till dawn.' On that the Prophet هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, he told you the truth, though he is a liar, and he (the thief) was the Satan. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 85 39

Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, Satan comes to one of you and says, 'who created so-and-so? 'till he says, 'who has created your Lord?' So, when he inspires such a question, one should seek refuge with Allah and give up such thoughts. Abu Huraira هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى said, when the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of the (Hell) Fire are closed, and the devils are chained. Ubai bin Ka`b هللا تعالی عنہ) (رضئ narrated that he heard Allah's Apostle هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى saying, Musa السالم) (عليه said to his attendant, [Bring our breakfast] (Al-Kahf - 62). The latter said [Would you believe it? I forgot the fish on the rock where we had rested. Only Satan made me forget to mention this] (Al-Kahf - 63) Musa السالم) (عليه did not feel tired till he had crossed the place which Allah ordered him to go. Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Bk 59, Hadith # 88 ح دهث ن ا ع ب د ه للا ب ن م س ل م ة ع ن م ال ك ع ن ع ب د ه للا ب ن د ين ار ع ن ع ب د ه للا ب ن ع م ر رضى هللا عنهما ق ال ر أ ي ت ر س ول ه للا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ي ش ير إ ل ى ال م ش ر ق ف ق ال " ه ا إ هن ال ف ت ن ة ه ا ه ن ا إ هن ال ف ت ن ة ه ا ه ن ا م ن ح ي ث ي ط ل ع ق ر ن ال هشي ط ا ن ". (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) narrated that he saw Allah's Apostle (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) Abdullah bin Umar pointing towards the east saying, Lo, afflictions will verily emerge; hence, afflictions will verily emerge hence where the (side of the head of) Satan appears. 40

45 Explanation When we look at the geographical position of Najd, it lies to the East of Madinah. In above Ahadith, it is صلى هللا عليه و آله ( Mohammad mentioned that Prophet said, pointed his hand towards the East and (وسلم there, that is the direction from where Fitna will emerge. The above Hadith clearly specifies following conclusive points. (a) It is abundantly clear that the place called Najd is not blessed from Islamic point of view as Prophet Mohammad هللا عليه و آله وسلم) (صلى called it a place of Fitna and Evil. صلى هللا (( Mohammad (b) This place is deprived of the prayers of Prophet.( (عليه و آله وسلم (c) Hoping of any Islamic good coming out of this place is against the Will.(ع ز و ج ل ( Allah of (d) In these circumstances, the Wahhabi/Salafi revivalist movement صلى هللا ( Prophet s coming out of Najd cannot be good or virtuous. As per prophecy this movement is tribulation and fitna in Islam. We (عليه و آله وسلم pray Allah ( و ج ل (ع ز to safeguard us from this Fitna. (e) The Arabic word used in the above Hadith is Qarnush Shaitaan, which means the horn of Shaitaan. In Misbahul Lughaat (page 663) the meaning of this word is written as One who follows the advice of Shaitaan'. Therefore, as per the Hadith, the Islamic revivalist Wahhabi movement is indeed following the advice of Satan. (f) For the past 100 years, this tribulation (Fitna) has gradually swept the entire world. Millions of innocent Muslims have become victims of this movement. Salafis, Deobandis and their likeminded deviant sects have misled millions of innocent Muslims with the slogans of Shirk, Kufr, Biddah, etc. 41
