Today s Bible reading (Luke 9: 51-62): Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did? But He turned and rebuked them, and said, You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men s lives but to save them. And they went to another village. Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, Lord, I will follow You wherever You go. And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. Then He said to another, Follow Me. But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Story of the Week: Does Christ live here? (Presented by Subhi Bshara): During a tour in a small village, a minister visited a shack there, where the woman of the house received him. At the end of the day, her husband came from work, and she told him about the minister`s visit. So he asked her: What did he say? She answered: He asked me: Does Christ live here? and I did not know how to answer. Angrily, the husband replied: Why didn t you tell him that we regularly go to church, read the bible, and do all the prayers...? The wife answered: He didn t ask me about this stuff, but his question was clear and to the point: Does Christ live in this shack? Brothers: Those, who have fixed their hearts and minds on
the Lord Jesus, and have surrendered their life to Him, will find that all of their conduct and decisions have changed through the action of His Spirit. His love would shine on their actions, and their houses would be according to His will. Therefore, when somebody faces this question: Does Christ live in this house?, the answer will be clear! Our News: + The wedding ceremony of Mr. Pierre Hamamji and Miss Cheryl Cary took place yesterday. We would like to extend our congratulations to them and to their families, and we pray to the Lord to bless their life with happiness and prosperity. + According to the Syriac church calendar, the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ to heaven falls on the Thursday June 2nd, but we are going to celebrate it with the holy mass on Sunday June 5th, 2011. + With the blessings of His Eminence, Archbishop, Elia Bahi, a spiritual meeting is arranged by St. Jacob Church, to take place outside the city of Montreal at the Community Centre located at (2005 Principale Street, Chute-a- Blondeau, Ontario) on June 26, 2011.
