It was a great chance for parents to get into classrooms and interact with the students as they were learning. Many thanks to Sundus, in Grade 10, for presenting to parents about her Personal Project experience this year and how the journey helped her prepare for the DP. I know that May still seems a long way off, but please not the dates for the exams this year. The Grade 10 students will be sitting their official IB MYP external exams between May 9-19. Two of these exams will take place on a Friday. Please ask your child if this will impact them. These are external examinations and we are not able to change the dates or to arrange for make-ups. For the students in Grade 9, 10 and 11 the IB internal exams will be between May 28- June 9. Please be aware that this is during Ramadan. We will be running a shortened schedule and students may study at home when they are not in an exam, however, it is still essential that students are present for the exam as it will not be possible to take resits and make-up tests. Please note all students should be in school by 7:00am as classes start then, and students are missing learning by arriving late. New Staff Welcome Mr. Philip Graham Existing Teacher Profile Mr. Mahmoud Husni Mr. Mahmoud is a well-known teacher in the Arabic and Islamic Studies department. This year he has been teaching Arabic A and Islamic A in the MYP. This year he bravely took on the challenge of Arabic B SL for some students in the DP. Next year Mr. Mahmoud will be back on more familiar ground as he launches the Arabic Language and Literature programme in the DP, and guides our Grade 12 students to some successful DP results.

السادة أولياء األمور والمعلمين ال تزال لجنة األهالي تعمل بجد من أجل مجتمع المدرسة. هناك الكثير من األنشطة الكبيرة والصغيرة التي أنجزت وغيرها التي ال تزال تحت التنفيذ. في األسبوع الماضي تكرمت السيدة كارلي ممرضة المدرسة االبتدائية بتقديم جلسة مفيدة جدا لآلباء واألمهات عن كيفية التعامل مع القمل ومساعدة مجتمعنا للسيطرة والحد من تفشي القمل. أعضاء لجنة األهالي واآلباء الذين حضروا ممتنون بشكل ال يصدق لهذه الدورة. كما طلبت لجنة األهالي من السيدة ناتالي أمينة المكتبة الرئيسية عقد دورة لمساعدة اآلباء في دعم أهداف القراءة لدى أطفالهم وسيتم اإلعالن قريبا عن تفاصيل هذه الدورة. من جهة أخرى تعمل لجنة األهالي مع المتطوعين على نقل فكرة تبادل الزي المدرسي الموحد إلى أرض الواقع. يمكن لآلباء ترك زي مدرسي نظيف غير ممزق وفي حالة جيدة جدا كما يمكن وضع أحذية وحقائب وصناديق غداء. وبهذا يكون اآلباء قادرين على تبادل األغراض التي ساهم بها اآلخرون. هذه مبادرة عظيمة لمساعدة بيئتنا ودعم مجتمعنا وعمل الخير وسيكون التسليم األول مبدئيا في يوم المرح العائلي في 25 مارس. يرجى االحتفاظ بالزي المدرسي أثناء قيامكم بتنظيف المنزل خالل اإلجازة. وبطبيعة الحال "يوم المرح العائلي" على بعد عدة أيام!! سيكون هناك جمع للتبرعات لتمويل الفعاليات المستقبلية التي تخطط لها لجنة األهالي من أجل خدمة مجتمع المدرسة وبخاصة فعالية "إفطار رمضان" وسباق الصيام. )يوم المرح العائلي( في الخامس والعشرين من مارس 2017 من الساعة الواحدة إلى الرابعة مساء في مبنى المدرسة المتوسطة. والهدف من هذه الفعالية هو ابتكار جو ممتع ألسرة المدرسة ومجتمعها بحيث يتم جمع التبرعات وإيجاد فرص لبناء مجتمع أقوى. كما أنه يعمل على إشراك جميع األعضاء من الطالب والمعلمين واآلباء والمدراء للتمتع بممارسة األنشطة معا. رسم الدخول هو 5 لاير قطري فقط للشخص الواحد. السمات الرئيسية لهذا الحدث هي: سراج ركوب المهر -الشقب ليغو بريكلين العلوم الجزيئية النطاطات زاوية أصحاب األعمال الخاصة الرسم على الوجوه الحناء أنشطة مجلس الطالب كاريوكي األنشطة الرياضية األلعاب السحب على التذاكر شد الحبل الحرف األطعمة المتنوعة ومحطات لألطفال دون سن 5 سنوات. الكثير الكثير من الوقت والطاقة والجهد تم بذلهم في إقامة يوم المرح العائلي وال يزال يحتاج إلى أكثر من ذلك بكثير. ونحن في حاجة ماسة إلى المتطوعين للمساعدة في إتمام هذه الفعالية بسالسة. حتى اآلن كان لمجالس الطالب في المرحلتين االبتدائية والثانوية وسيظل لها دور أساسي في يوم المرح العائلي. وسيحصل طالب الثانوية على ساعات من العمل في خدمة المجتمع مقابل تطوعهم في هذه الفعالية. نحن في سباق مع الوقت لضمان جهوزيتها في الوقت المحدد لها فالرجاء دعمنا. نتمنى من األهالي الحضور واالنضمام إلى يوم المرح العائلي وإحضار طبق لمشاركته مع الجميع نقترح األطعمة التي تؤكل بسهولة )ويجب أن تكون خالية من المكسرات ومنتجات لحم الخنزير والكحول(. الرجاء تتبع هذا الرابط للتسجيل على النموذج الذي يتطلب االسم ورقم الهاتف وعنوان البريد اإللكتروني والنشاط الذي ترغبون في التطوع له. سنحاول التنسيق بحيث نقرن المتطوعين ببعضهم البعض وعلى شكل مناوبات بحيث تتاح لكل فرد فرصة التمتع بهذه االحتفاالت. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1amr79daieqvswvh13lswpj_c6gqybaug5nlrkz14 OwM/edit?ts=58415be9#gid=0 نحن في غاية التشوق لهذه الفعالية ونتمنى أن تكونوا أنتم أيضا متشوقون لها إذا كانت لديكم أية تساؤالت اتصلوا بنا على بريدنا اإللكتروني pta@qasidra.org ندعوكم جميعا لالنضمام إلى صفحة الفيسبوك الخاصة بمدرستنا تحت اسم QAS Parent Teacher Association التي يمكن االستفادة منها في نشر اإلعالنات المتعلقة بالفعاليات المدرسية كما تعتبر طريقة سهلة وسريعة للتواصل بين األهالي. نشكركم على دعمكم المتواصل لنا لجنة األهالي
Dear Parents and Teachers, The PTA is sfll chugging along and working hard for the school community. With many large and small acfvifes accomplished and in the works. Last week, the gracious Ms.Carly, the primary school nurse, gave a very informafve session to parents to help manage lice and help our community control and limit lice infestafons. The PTA and the parents who alended are incredibly grateful for her session. The PTA has also asked Ms. Natalie, the primary librarian, to do a session to help parents support their children's reading goals. The details of the session will be announced soon. The PTA is also working with parent volunteers to get off the ground a uniform exchange. Parents can drop off CLEAN, TEAR FREE, in very good condifon uniform items, school shoes, backpacks, and lunch boxes. They will be able to exchange for items that others have contributed. This is a great inifafve to help our environment, support our community, and give to charity. Our inifal drop off will be at the Family Fun Day (FFD) on March 25th. Please keep the uniform exchange in mind when you do spring cleaning during the break. Of course, Family Fun Day is literally days away!! There will be a lille bit of fundraising at the FFD for the future projects the PTA is puyng on to the serve the community; especially a community Ramadan I@ar and Fast-a-thon. Family Fun Day NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!! March 25th, 1-4pm QAS Secondary School The goal of this event is create a fun atmosphere for our school family and community; whilst fundraising and creafng opportunifes to further build our community stronger. It is to engage all members, students, teachers, parents, and admin to enjoy engaging acfvifes together. The entry fee is only 5QR per person. The major features of the event are SIRAJ, pony rides by Al-Shaqab, Briklyn LEGO, Molecular Science, bouncy castles, parent entrepreneur booths, face painfng, henna, Student Council run acfvifes, karaoke, sports, games, raffle, tug of war, cra@s, food, and stafons for children under 5 yrs old. SOOO much Fme, energy, and effort has gone on to put FFD together and sfll needs much more. We desperately need volunteers to help this event go smoothly. So far, both Primary and Secondary Student Councils have been, and confnue to be, instrumental in puyng on FFD. Secondary students will receive community service hours if they volunteer! We are on a Fme crunch with this event. All hands-on deck will be greatly appreciated! Parents are requested to come and join the fun and bring a dish for everyone to share, finger food(s) preferred (NO nuts please!)
