HUDU Caplets Composition: Each caplet contains: Diphenhydramine HCl 50 mg Therapeutic Activity: Hudu is used as a nighttime sleep aid for the shortterm management of insomnia in individuals experiencing occasional sleeplessness or having difficulty in falling asleep. In addition Hudu is used as a nighttime sleep aid for the insomnia associated with lethargy resulting from work, fatigue and tiredness. Hudu is effective in the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and/or vertigo associated with motion sickness, and as an antitussive for the temporary relief of cough caused by minor throat and bronchial irritation as in common colds or inhaled irritants. Hudu may be useful in the symptomatic treatment of parkinsonian syndrome in geriatric patients unable to tolerate more potent agents such as levodopa or with drug induced extrapyramidal reactions. When should not this preparation be used: Pregnant and breastfeeding women. In patients sensitive to the medication or to any of its ingredients. In patients suffering from asthma, glaucoma, emphysema, chronic pulmonary disease, shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and/or have difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland. In elderly patients who experience confusion at nighttime, because of the probability of drug induced excitation. Children under 2 years old are not allowed to take this medicine. Do not take this medicine without consulting a physician before starting treatment: The drug is to be given to children less than 12 years of age. If sleeplessness persists continuously for more than 2 weeks. If you are suffering, or have suffered in the past, from impaired function of the heart and/or vascular system, thyroid gland and central nervous system or seizures. How will this medicine affect your daily life? The drug may impair alertness and the ability to perform potentially hazardous tasks requiring mental alertness or physical coordination, therefore caution must be taken when driving a vehicle or operating dangerous machinery. Use of alcoholic beverages is strictly forbidden when using this medicine. Side Effects: The most common side effects that may occur are: sedation, nervousness, fatigue, headache, lassitude, dizziness, incoordination. Other side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, anorexia, or increased appetite and epigastric pain. Hudu may also produce blurred vision, difficulty in micturition, dysuria, dryness of the mouth and tightness of the chest, thickening of bronchial secretions and hypertension.
Drug Interactions: If you are taking another drug concomitantly or if you have just finished treatment with another medicine, inform your physician in order to prevent hazards or lack of efficacy arising from drug interactions. This is specially important for medicines belonging to the following groups: Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, CNS depressant drugs including alcohol, barbiturates and tranquilizers. Dosage and Directions for Use: Recommended dosage unless otherwise prescribed by the physician: As a nighttime sleep aid: Adult dose: the usual oral dose of Hudu for selfmedication is one caplet at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. As insomnia may be an indication of a dangerous physiological or psychological disorder that needs special medical supervision, inform your physician if insomnia lasts for more than 2 weeks. Selfmedication for children 12 years of age and older is 50 mg at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. If the patient experiences dizziness while taking this medication, half the permitted dose at bedtime is advised. Do not chew. Swallow the medicine with a cup of milk or with food. To Avoid Poisoning: Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. If an excessive dose is taken or if your child swallowed the medication accidentally, seek help at an emergency and take the remaining medicine with you. Do not induce vomiting without consulting your physician. Do not take your medication in the dark, always read the label and make sure you are taking the right medication. Always notice the expiry date and never use medicines after the mentioned date. Avoid exposure of the drug to excessive heat and humidity during storage.
